Before the monsoon, the Karachi DMC administrator will clean the sewers
Development work is being carried out in several sections of Jamshed Zone, DMC Lahore, on the orders of the administrator of Karachi East district municipal corporation (DMC) and Municipal Commissioner Fahim Khan.
Construction work was completed at UC 4 Parsi Gate, Baloch Colony UC5, and UC7 under the direction of superintending engineer B&R Salman Memon, assistant executive engineers Nadeem Zaidi, Shahbaz Hassan, and sub engineer Arshad Naeem.
During the inspection of the said works, DMC Lahore Administrator Rahmatullah Sheikh emphasized that development work is ongoing in various areas of the district east, through which facilities are provided to the district’s citizens.
He added that underground activities are being carried out in collaboration with relevant organizations before road building. For this reason, he said, concerned agencies are being brought on board, and efforts are underway to complete road work. He direct the officers to put up speed bumps wherever they were needed.
It’s like it’s 2013
We’ve had a sense of political déjà vu since Shehbaz Sharif took the oath of office as Prime Minister. People have been experiencing flashbacks to 2013.
If you open the archives of newspapers from May 2013, you won’t be able to know they were written nine years ago. Load shedding, a bad economy, political schisms, PTI’s statewide protests, and PML-N + PPP opposition to PTI remain. Nothing has changed but the date.
Load shedding was the talk of the town in May 2013. Load shedding was a key difficulty for the newly constitute PML-N government. On May 20, 2013, the main headline in the Jang newspaper said, “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announces end of load shedding in one month.” At the time, load shedding was a serious issue.
Many power plants were out of commission at the time, adding to the gap. At the time, the PML-N had resolved to generate power using coal, but critics were skeptical. Many people believed that load shedding was a fabricated problem at the time. According to Chief Justice Muhammad Iftikhar Choudhary, the continued load shedding appears to be a self-inflicted crisis. On May 22, 2013, his remark was the top headline of the Jang newspaper. And, if you think about it, the situation isn’t all that different today.
Load shedding is becoming an issue
Load shedding, an issue that the PML-N successfully resolved near the end of its tenure, has resurfaced. Even though these are enormous power projects, load shedding is becoming an issue. There was a modest deficiency, but the problem has gotten worse since Shehbaz Sharif took office, as if there had never been a single project in the power sector for two decades. PTI supporters are convinced that the country’s continuing load shedding is a ploy to divert attention away from soaring prices.
People should settle down, said then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in May 2013. They should not expect us to halt load shedding in days since it will take time. Load shedding was priorities in an emergency. The Prime Minister was constantly mentioning it. Then, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that, despite being a chief minister, load shedding is still on his agenda.
It made sense at the time because the gap was caused by a lack of projects in the electricity sector, but today they cannot speak to load shedding as an issue. There were significant electricity projects during the PML-rule, N’s, yet the PML-N treats load shedding as if it were 2013. Loadshedding is not a problem that can be marketed today. You only need to pay the oil companies and make certain repairs before electricity production can begin.
The IMF warned Pakistan
Another intriguing aspect was the economy. In May 2013, after taking office, then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif promised to make Pakistan financially independent. His sibling is saying the same thing today, nine years later. If you read the media from September 2013, you will notice that the IMF warned Pakistan about the impending economic iceberg nine years ago. Instead of identifying new sources of income, the PML-N was preoccupied with negotiating an agreement with the IMF. From 2013 until 2018, the PML-only N’s strategy was the IMF. They grabbed the money and ran the country, burdening us. So they are still doing the same thing in 2022. They didn’t learn anything. We had no breakthrough businesses that could boost our economy from 2013 to 2022.
