Listening Test Guide to Improve Your Score
Understand Connected Speech
This is something that most students struggle to some degree.
Connected speech is the combination of words and sounds, which makes it difficult for a non-native speaker to understand what is being said.
Practice Forecasting
Knowing in advance what you can hear in the recording and what will be said later during the interview or conversation will help you a lot in understanding the audio. Also you should identifying the information in exams needed for the answers.
This is a skill that is easy to practice. First, choose something to listen to from one of the many sources listed above.
An additional resource overseas education consultants recommend to practice divination is the TED Ed videos. Also, they have a lot of optional and open-ended questions, which allows you to practice listening to specific information as you would in a listening test.
Before you start the video, read the title and guess some relevant points that can be included in the post. Then, as you listen, pause the audio from time to time and guess how the topic will develop in the next few sentences. And, of course, try to figure out the answers to the questions.

Practice Paraphrasing
A unique skill you can practice when listening to English online is the paraphrase.
Listening test entries include many synonyms and keywords and phrases in the questions.
Identify Your Weaknesses
There is no point in spending hours listening to spoken English and taking practice tests until you have identified your weaknesses and especially not focused on improving them.
Is it the grammar that is depressing you, the limited vocabulary, or is it hard for you to follow the conversation? One way to identify your biggest challenges, if you don’t know what they are, is to analyze the results of practice tests and determine what mistakes you made on a regular basis.
Cambridge English-language real test paper books (and some online tests) include transcripts of the records. This will help you understand why you got a particular answer wrong.
Complete the Practical Tests
Many students prioritise this and complete the exam after the exam. You will need to learn strategies and practice tests to answer 10 different types of questions on the listening test, but this will help you to a limited extent in developing the specific skills needed to achieve a high score.
I recommend that you spend 10-15 percent of your preparation time on practical assignments and 85-90 percent on listening to oral English, as mentioned above. In addition to improving certain listening skills, it will quickly improve your general English level and score high on all parts of the IELTS exam.
I recommend using only formal tests for the exam practice, as they only completely duplicate the actual exam paper that will be submitted on the day of the test. Several are available online for free and I have added two to the website
Listen To English Every Day
The listening test is designed to test how well you understand English. So the most obvious way to improve your listening skills is to listen to a lot of English speaking. But what to listen to?
You will find everything you need online for free. Whether you have a few minutes to listen to or plan an hour of reading time, there are plenty of materials you can access in a matter of seconds.
Listen to a number of things. The test involves two monologues (one person speaks) and two conversations, so you need to practice listening to both.
Online news channels are ideal because news shows have a good mix of reports and conversations. For all parts of the IELTS exam, we recommend BBC News as the best news channel.
However, listen to the news from a number of English-speaking countries (UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa) for the Listening test so that you learn to understand the different accents.
Podcasts are also a great resource. They can last up to 2 minutes or an hour or more. They also cover a lot of topics, so you can easily find interesting things to listen to in the time available.
The Best Platform to Search for Podcasts Is Social Media
TED conversations are just as helpful. These online lectures are often very short and are very suitable for practising listening to monologues.
