The story of Five Nights At Freddy centers around one character. William Afton is responsible for nearly every horrible event in the series. Fazbear Entertainment co-founded him, and he is also responsible for the creation of the famous animatronics. He is also responsible for the deaths of all the children who now have the animatronics that attack them throughout the game. William Afton (also known as the Purple Guy) is the main character of the series.
William Afton is often the one who dies in many of these games. However, he always finds a way to return in a different form. No matter how many times Afton has been killed, trapped, or destroyed, he never achieves his permanent end. His most well-known quote is, “I always return!” He has proven those words true. One might take a look at William Afton’s death to see what drives his restless soul not to die.
Springtrap’s Rise and Fall
Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 reveals how Afton died the first time through mini-games. Afton used a spare Spring Bonnie suit to lure five children away from Freddy’s restaurant and then murdered them. These five children’s souls were then taken into the Freddy Fazbear and Bonnie animatronics. Foxy, Chica, Foxy, Foxy, and Golden Freddy. The spirits of the children were consumed with revenge and waited for Afton to return. The spirits chased him through the restaurant after he returned. Afton tried to hide in the Spring Bonnie suit, but the spring-lock mechanisms inside the suit activated and crushed his body, causing him a slow, gruesome death.
Afton was just like the murderous children. His soul wouldn’t rest. He possessed the Spring Bonnie suit and turned him into Springtrap. Afton spent years trapped in the suit, which was an abandoned restaurant. Fazbear’s Fright was created from the remnants of the abandoned restaurant. Afton watched the night guard for the new attraction until it mysteriously burned down. Fazbear’s Fright was also destroyed by the fire, as was Springtrap.

Scraptrap Creation
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator revealed that Afton had survived a fire and had transformed into something new. The Springtrap’s body was severely damaged by the fire and needed to be repaired. After Afton had repaired his own body, he was able to become Scraptrap and found himself outside Freddy Fazbears Pizza Place. Henry Emily, Afton’s ex-business partner, built this restaurant as a revenge attack on Afton. He wanted to put to rest all the possessed animatronics.
Glitchtrap and Burntrap are Resurrected
Security Breach was Afton’s latest victim. He used it to break into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Megaplex. He downloaded his soul into Scraptrap’s charred remains. Afton was able to download his soul into his original body, and he became Burntrap. Afton, who was hiding under the Megaplex’s Megaplex, manipulated Security Breach events and tried to kill Gregory Freddy and Glamrock Freddy. They were able to defeat Burntrap and set the Megaplex ablaze. William Afton was again consumed by fire, and he appeared to be dead. Afton’s past makes it almost certain that he will return.
Why does Afton always come back?
Afton seems to be able to overcome any obstacle with the power of his evil spirit. It is possible that Afton can only be defeated by breaking his will. Afton may lose the ability to be resurrected in new forms if he doesn’t have the drive or determination to murder. Afton’s soul, not his physical body, might be the key to his death.
